Overview

The Cyrus IMAP Server is a high‑performance, open‑source mail system built to run on “sealed” servers where users never log in directly. It stores mailboxes in a private filesystem database, allowing efficient concurrent read/write access, ACLs, and quotas while exposing mail through IMAP, JMAP, POP3, NNTP, CalDAV, CardDAV and WebDAV. Designed for security and scalability, Cyrus powers large deployments and can be paired with Xapian for powerful full‑text search. The project is actively developed (latest development branch 3.13) and released under a permissive open‑source license.
