Overview

dhcpd is an open‑source DHCPv4 server daemon that originated from the OpenBSD Google Summer of Code 2014 project. It runs natively on OpenBSD (amd64 and sparc64) and can be compiled on Linux with a simple ./configure && make workflow, handling a surprisingly wide variety of clients—from Windows and Android devices to IP phones, routers, and embedded TVs. The current development focus is on a proper configuration‑file parser, transaction‑safe reloads, and future extensions such as DHCPv6 support, lease persistence, and DDNS integration. Contributions and small patches are welcomed, and the project deliberately avoids heavyweight autotools in favor of a lean build system.
