Overview

Open‑iSCSI is a high‑performance, transport‑independent iSCSI initiator that implements RFC 3720 for Linux systems. It combines a lightweight kernel data path (scsi_transport_iscsi, libiscsi, scsi_tcp) with a full‑featured userspace control plane, including the iscsid daemon and the iscsiadm management utility. The project offers features such as persistent configuration, SendTargets discovery, CHAP authentication, PDU digest support, and multi‑session handling, all under a GPL‑v3 (daemon) / LGPL‑v3 (library) license. Development continues on GitHub, where users can report issues, contribute code, and obtain the latest releases.
